Showing MU Reminders in Charting (and During Ending Encounter)

When the encounter is in session, the MU iconINSYNC~1_img878appears on the top right side along with the other icons. On clicking this icon, the MU Reminder screen opens up. Also, when attempting to end an encounter, a screen appears with the Meaningful Use Reminder panel on top.

For each patient, all non-qualifying instances of the patient for which MU criteria are not yet met are listed on the reminder screen. From this screen, you can take the actions for such instances. If you skip taking actions here, you can take the quick actions later at the time of ending an encounter, as the Meaningful Use Reminder is also displayed there.

The Meaningful Use Reminder screen has 4 columns: Objective, Description, Module, and Action. The Action column helps the user to quickly record the necessary details in order to meet MU criteria for the corresponding objective. Wherever the action items are blank, users can click in the links in the Module column, which opens up the respective screens to record details to fulfill MU criteria.

Notes:

Depending on the configuration done for the provider of the encounter in practice defaults, the reminder screen for MU stage number (1 or 2) is selected by default.
The reminder panel at the time of ending an encounter is displayed only when Meaningful Use Stage 1 and 2 – End Encounter Level Reminder is configured in the Practice Defaults section.
